April Newsletter
Good morning Poplar Beach Members,
I think spring has finally arrived as the outlook for the next week looks very promising to finally bring an end to the snow in the campground and hopefully dry up the park enough to open the gates. As of yesterdays report, there is significant snow remaining in the park so the gates will not be opened this weekend, unfortunately.
In the interim, the PBCOC BOD would like to share a few items with our members.
New Park Managers
The Board of Directors is pleased to share the 2022 Park Manager position has been filled. We would like to welcome Kelly and Sheila Shumay to the park! Kelly and Sheila reside at Nelson Beach and are looking forward to transitioning into this new role with an official start date of May 9th.
Seasonal Site 106A
Our seasonal site will be available for rental once again. The BOD wanted to to provide a first opportunity to our members family and friends prior to opening through our website for booking. The rental cost for the season will be $2800.00. We suggest the site would best accommodate a RV not exceeding 32 feet. Please direct those interested or have questions to email the BOD at poplarbeach135@gmail.com to secure the site for the year!
Boat Compound
There remains a few sites available, along with our new smaller sites behind the shop for watercraft/trailers in our boat compound for this season. If you have not yet requested a spot, please do so shortly though our online form located on our website. Please remember to send your payment to secure your spot!
Internet Service
For those who do not receive the Resort Village of Wakaw Lake newsletters, sharing with you the following information regarding a Internet Service opportunity available to us here in the campground. Thank you Pam!
Did you know that fibre-optic cable runs adjacent to the Resort Village along the highway? SaskTel has told us that they do not anticipate coming into the Resort Village. Redbird Communications attended our last Council meeting to provide information on an option to bring the fibre optic cable and broadband into the resort. Redbird can tie into the fibre-optic cable and provide the best internet available.
If you are interested, please have a look at the attached brochure. There is a link in the brochure to give you an option to express your interest . If 60% of residents sign up on the link provided by Tyson in the brochure and sign up for a contract (cheaper than your current internet per month), Flex Networks will bring the cable into the resort at no cost to residents. Their cost is approximately $600,000.00. There is an option available for seasonal residents to avoid paying for a full year's service at cost of approximately $70.00 for 7 months of service. Campground - they can likely run the cable with the power in the Fall if the contractor permits. This is very likely the only opportunity for broadband to come in. They can bring the cable overhead at Sandy Point and in rocky areas. None of the competitors can come close to the quality of this service.
Click on the "Sign Up Today" link in the brochure.
Did I mention it's a great opportunity? No, I don't get a commission.
If you have any questions, you can direct them to Tyson Almasi at (306) 491-2385.
